Babies at Coombe Valley are cared for by
designated key people, who are all
experienced and specifically qualified in the
care of children under two. Babies have
their own space and we always follow their
own routines for sleeping and eating, with
indoor and outdoor playtimes in between.
We encourage parents to talk to us about
their children, and we plan carefully to
support every child’s development.
Toddlers are beginning to find their feet and
we understand their need to become their
own people. We treat them carefully so
that they learn to be part of a social group,
while also pursuing their own interests.
Our staff are all qualified to at least level 3
and all senior staff are qualified to at least
level 4 in the care of children 0-5, and
many have been with Coombe Valley for
years. Like babies, toddlers have
designated key staff to ensure that their
needs are met.
As children grow and develop we
encourage them to experiment and grow in
confidence, learning to explore and
discover and to believe in themselves as
competent and confident learners. The
progress of all our children is observed and
noted regularly, and activities are carefully
planned by each child’s key person to meet
their individual needs. All children from 0-5
work within the Early Years Foundation
Stage framework.
