This nursery has strong links to Egloskerry Primary
School
The nursery at Egloskerry has a beautiful new
building which is insulated with eco-friendly
sterilised straw and wool and clad in sustainable
cedar. It has a green roof of flowering sedum
and special provision has been made for bats in
the slate hanging. The beautiful light
accommodation includes an open plan nursery
room with a child height kitchen area. The
nursery is completely accessible and has a
covered verandah leading from the main play
room which provides a peaceful and safe setting
for sheltered outdoor play. This nursery’s
position in Egloskerry makes it ideal for families
in the surrounding rural areas, or the northern
parts of Launceston, and particularly those
wishing to register for Egloskerry School.
Celeste Sillifant is the senior nursery nurse
at Egloskerry Nursery. She and her deputy,
Lisa Heard, both hold level 4 certificates. As
this is a small nursery these two staff are the
main people who care for the children with
some help from our bank of regular
assistants. Celeste originally worked for
Coombe Valley as a cover member of staff
before coming to Egloskerry, and Lisa
worked at our Old Tree Nursery initially.
Celeste is a quiet practitioner who promotes
a calm and constructive atmosphere in the
nursery.
